„Nothing soothes the soul like a day by the ocean!“ – Beach Bag Essentials 2025

Do you know that feeling when you finally pack your beach bag and you know for sure: Summer is about to begin? For me, it’s always a little kick-off moment, almost a ritual. My beach bag is my summer survival kit, so to speak – it contains everything I need to survive a long day at the lake, the sea, or the beach club. This year, I’ve especially fallen in love with my soft straw beach bag. It’s big enough to hold all my essentials, yet lightweight and super stylish. And honestly, a straw bag is the epitome of summer for me.
So, what will be in my bag in 2025 and what absolutely must-haves? I’ve sorted the categories a bit – beauty, headwear & hair, reading material, and of course, my „extras“ that I simply can’t live without.
Category Beauty
– Sun Protection & Glow
I think we can all agree: nothing goes without sunscreen in the summer. My skin is super sensitive, and if I spend a single day in the sun unprotected, I pay dearly for it. That’s why the first thing I put in my beach bag is always sunscreen.
This year, I’ve been swearing by Caudalie’s body sunscreen. The texture is light, absorbs quickly, and doesn’t leave that sticky feeling that some creams leave behind. The scent is subtle, which I love because I don’t like that artificial „summer cocktail“ smell in sunscreens. The best part? I really feel like my skin is being cared for with this cream, not just „coated.“
For my face, I use the Caudalie sun stick. It’s so practical because I can easily reapply it as and when I need it – no mirror, no hassle. The stick is perfect, especially at the beach, when I’m swimming or working up a sweat.
And then comes my second favorite: La Roche-Posay Thermal Spring Water. It’s my absolute secret weapon in the summer. There’s nothing better than spraying your face with a little freshness boost every now and then. Especially when you’re lying under the sun and feel like you’re melting away. I also love spraying the thermal spring water all over my body – simply to soothe my skin.
Of course, my lips shouldn’t suffer either. I’ve brought two little favorites with me this year: the new lip balm with SPF from Rituals – great for classic protection and incredibly comfortable to wear. And because I want not only protection but also a bit of color, I also packed the Summer Fridays Lip Balm in brown. It gives my lips that „my lips but better“ look without looking too made-up. Perfect for the beach club, when I’m having a drink after swimming and want to look a little polished.
In short: my beauty kit is small but effective. All products that get me through the day feeling fresh, protected, and cared for.

– nothing works without it
Sun, sun, sun – as much as I love it, my scalp sees it a little differently. I’m someone who always carries a cap with me in the summer. Whether it’s a baseball cap or a casual logo cap, the main thing is that it’s practical. Not only does it protect, it also looks cool. Especially when paired with a bikini and sunglasses, it instantly creates that effortless beach look.
Speaking of hair: it’s a whole other chapter for me. I often feel the need to pull it up at the nape of my neck when it gets too hot. That’s why I always carry a hair tie with me – preferably one of the thick ones that doesn’t dig in. And a bobby pin that’s big enough to hold my hair back but not too heavy. I love this trend with the large claw clips, which are both practical and stylish.
Category Reading Material
– Books & Magazines
A summer without reading material? Unimaginable for me. I always have something to read with me at the beach or by the pool. This year, as always: a book and a magazine.
When it comes to books, I alternate between novels that truly transport me to other worlds and light summer reads. I simply need that balance: immersing myself deeply on the one hand, and quickly skimming a few pages on the other when I’m taking a dip in the water.
And then my absolute must: InStyle. I buy it every month and love leafing through it in the sun. It’s become a little ritual. Sometimes I find new trends that I find exciting; sometimes it’s just the inspiration, the photos, the whole vibe. For me, InStyle is pure summer feeling.
Category Extras
– my little must-haves
In addition to the classics, my beach bag also contains a few items that you might not immediately notice, but are indispensable for me.
Very important: sunglasses. I usually carry two in the summer, but at least one must always be in my bag. I like them large so they protect my face while also making a fashion statement.
Then: a second bikini. This may sound excessive, but trust me – it’s worth its weight in gold. If you’ve been in the sea, then go out for something to eat, and don’t want to sit around in a wet bikini all day, it’s perfect to have a second one with you.
And last but not least: my beach bag itself. I’ve already mentioned how much I love my soft straw beach bag. It’s large, super light, and goes with any summer outfit.

So what’s in my bag is a mix of care, protection, style, and little luxuries. I don’t pack 100 things, just the ones that make my day at the beach or at the beach club more enjoyable.
And honestly: packing my beach bag is almost a little ritual for me. I put in my essentials, look at my bag, and immediately I get that feeling of lightness, of summer, of „I’m ready for sun, water, Aperol, and good vibes.“
By 2025, my beach bag game will definitely be on a whole new level. Between Caudalie, La Roche-Posay, Rituals, Summer Fridays, my InStyle, a cap, and my sunglasses, I’m perfectly equipped. All that’s missing now is the beach, the sea—and maybe you by my side, with your own beach bag full of your favorite things.
