Die Wolke – beautiful mediterranean place

„Living my best brunch life“; Die Wolke

invitation

There are places in Vienna that you discover—and immediately feel like you’ve known them for ages. That’s exactly how I felt about brunch at the restaurant Die Wolke. Even upon arrival, you realize that brunch at Die Wolke isn’t just a breakfast appointment, but rather a little experience right in the heart of the city. And honestly, these are exactly the kinds of places I’m always on the lookout for. Places that are a little different. Places that not only have good food, but also an atmosphere that instantly captivates you. Places where you sit down, take a deep breath, and think:

Okay, this is where I’m going to stay for a while.  The plan was actually quite simple. A leisurely morning with my husband, a little food, a little chatting, maybe a few photos—nothing more. But sometimes, these spontaneous plans turn into little highlights of the week.

For me, brunch is more than just breakfast. It’s that relaxed transition between morning and afternoon. No stress, no appointments, just time. Time to sit, to sample, to talk, and of course, to enjoy. And you get that feeling pretty quickly at Die Wolke. After just a few minutes, you realize that everything here is designed to make you stay. Not just for a quick coffee, but for a really long brunch where you eventually completely forget how late it actually is.

A statement even from the outside

– A little bit of Mykonos

The area might not be the first place that comes to your mind when you think of a typical Viennese brunch – not super central, not right in the heart of the first district. But that’s precisely what makes it so charming, because brunch at the restaurant die Wolke feels a bit like a secret tip, whispered only to others. Even from the outside, you can immediately tell that something special awaits you here.

The glass facade reflects the light; everything feels modern, open, and incredibly clean. And then there’s that seriously cool print on the windows – minimalist, yet so striking that you know instantly: This is die Wolke.

As soon as you step inside, the atmosphere completely changes. Everything inside suddenly feels lighter. Brighter. Airier. I sat down and immediately thought: This reminds me of Mykonos. That exact Mediterranean feeling accompanies you at brunch as soon as you enter the room. The materials, the colors, the light – everything has that relaxed Mediterranean flair that you’d usually expect from a beach club rather than a Viennese restaurant. We were lucky and got a table right by the window.

Perfect conditions for taking photos. The light was soft, natural, and perfect – and that’s precisely what makes this brunch so appealing for anyone who enjoys taking beautiful food photos. The furniture also immediately surprised me. Not classic restaurant chairs, but comfortable outdoor furniture – as if you were actually on a sunny terrace somewhere by the sea. You can tell right away: They’ve really paid attention to detail here.

One table, two people

– and lots of food

I went there with my husband, which turned out to be an extremely good decision. Because I can tell you one thing right now: If you go for brunch here, come hungry. We received a warm welcome, sat down, and were given the menus. On one side, you’ll find the drinks – from specialty coffees and creative lattes to smoothies. On the other side, there’s a brief explanation of the concept behind the brunch. And I found this concept really interesting.

Because it’s actually a kind of all-you-can-eat brunch – but not in the traditional sense.

You get a large platter meant for two people. This platter is essentially the starting point for the brunch, and after that, you can order more of anything else you like. And that’s precisely what I found so appealing. No frantic getting up, no constantly refilling the buffet, no stress. Everything arrives at the table in a relaxed atmosphere. You sit, chat, sample the different things, and eventually realize: this brunch is actually much more of a shared experience than just a meal.

Our brunch plate

– sweet and salty

When our platter arrived, I had to laugh. Not because it looked funny – but because it was enormous. That’s precisely what makes this concept so special: you immediately get the feeling that they’ve really thought of everything. Half the platter was savory. The other half was sweet. And both looked so good that we didn’t even know where to begin.

On the savory side there was: Falafel, Hummus, Various cheeses, Vegan egg salad, Cucumber, Celery, Carrots, Wraps. And then – my absolute highlight. Garlic bread. I’m not exaggerating when I say: That was the best garlic bread I’ve ever eaten. Moist. Warm. Incredibly aromatic. While we were slowly sampling our way through the platter, another dish arrived at our table: a Turkish egg. If you’ve never had one – I’d only ever heard of it before. Turkish eggs typically consist of poached eggs on top of garlic yogurt, served with hot butter and paprika oil. They are served with bread for dipping. It’s creamy, spicy, and incredibly aromatic.

I have to be honest. After the savory half, I was actually pretty full. But then came the sweet side. And it was… let’s just say: impressive. Especially if you like a sweet breakfast, this brunch is truly ideal.

On our platter were: Rice pudding, Chia pudding, Mini brownies, Banana bread, Bircher muesli, A vanilla-filled donut, A waffle, Power balls. Just reading this, you can probably tell: That’s more than enough. That’s precisely why the whole thing feels more like a mini food festival than a regular breakfast. And the best part: You can order more at any time. Included in the price. The entire platter changes slightly depending on the day and season – a detail that makes every brunch there a little different.

The drinks

– instagramable

Of course, a good brunch wouldn’t be complete without the perfect drink. We tried a bit of everything. My husband had a matcha latte. I ordered a blue latte—whose name I’ve unfortunately forgotten, but you’ll recognize it immediately when you see the menu. It’s the only blue drink they have. And funnily enough, it perfectly matched my outfit that day. Coincidence? I think not.

There was also a smoothie of the day. Ours was made with beetroot, apple, and a few other healthy ingredients. Fresh, light, and perfect for a long brunch.

What I particularly enjoyed was the selection. Besides classic coffees, there were also many more creative drinks that you don’t find everywhere. It’s precisely these little extras that, for me, make a good brunch. You try things you might not normally order and suddenly discover new favorite drinks.

Atmosphere instead of haste

– More than just pizza

What I particularly liked:

No one is rushed here. You sit. You talk. You try things. Many restaurants try to rush through brunch. Here, everything feels more like a long, leisurely Sunday. You can tell that the concept is designed to encourage guests to linger. No one is constantly checking their watch, no one is frantically clearing plates. Instead, a calm, almost relaxed atmosphere develops, where you can really take your time.

That’s precisely what brunch is all about for me. This feeling that the day is still wide open. You sit together, maybe order another drink, try a few more things from the platter – and suddenly two or three hours have passed without you even noticing.

Most people probably know the restaurant because of its pizza. And yes – die Wolke is indeed known for its pizza. But I honestly think that this brunch deserves at least as much attention. Because I’ve rarely experienced a concept that’s so generous, so relaxed, and at the same time so aesthetically pleasing. You can tell that die Wolke doesn’t just want to be a restaurant. But a place. A meeting place. A place where you want to linger.

my summary

– holiday feeling in Vienna

If you’re looking for a place in Vienna that combines good food, beautiful design, and a relaxed atmosphere, you absolutely have to try this brunch at die Wolke. Come hungry. Bring some time. And maybe someone to share it with. Because that’s exactly what this brunch is made for. For long conversations.

For good food. And for that little feeling of vacation right in the heart of Vienna. And sometimes that’s all it takes to make a Sunday perfect.

What I particularly loved was the whole experience. You don’t just come here to eat, but to truly linger. The atmosphere, the design, the generous portions on the platter, and the option to order more at any time—all of this makes this brunch special. It almost feels like a mini-vacation, right in the middle of Vienna.

And these are exactly the kinds of places I love: places that take you away from everyday life for a few hours and simply put you in a great mood.
