Let´s talk – 20 quick questions for me

VaniVanity_20 Questions

„Visualize your highest self, then start showing up as her.“- 20 Questions

I thought it was time for a little intimacy again—like, really. Not a review, not an outfit post, but simply:

Me. You.

And 20 questions I’ve been asked repeatedly over the past few months—or that I’ve wanted to ask myself. So: sit back, grab a coffee or something stronger—and let’s chat.

1. Question

Who is actually behind vanivanity.com?

Hi, I’m Vanessa – a passionate Viennese, a true aesthete, married to the best man in the world, and always looking for places, moments, and things that feel like life. Vanivanity is my digital home, my diary, my playground.

2. Question

What does a perfect Sunday look like for you?

Sleeping in (really), breakfast in bed, a walk with my husband and in the evening either trying a new restaurant or just pasta and Aperol on the couch – depending on how wild the week was.

3. Question

Three things that make you instantly happy?

Fresh flowers. A beautiful view. And someone who brings me a gift without asking.

4. Question

What can someone do to make you really happy?

With genuine attention. A little note, a loving message, a hug when you need it but don’t ask for it.

5. Question

What inspires you in everyday life?

People who are passionate about something. In-depth conversations. Pinterest (I know, guilty). And beautiful cafés with even more beautiful menus.

6. Question

How would you describe your style in three words?

Elegant. Effortless. Personal.

7. Question

Which compliment has particularly stuck in your mind?

“With you, even everyday life feels like a vacation.”
(And yes, I almost cried.)

8. Question

What was your best travel day ever?

Honestly? My honeymoon to Crete, to the Stella Island Luxury Resort, was simply next level. Everything was perfect: the infinity pool, the food, the atmosphere, the two of us. I’ve rarely felt so at home, so calm, yet so alive at the same time. Definitely one of those trips that stays with you forever.

9. Question

Where are you going next – and what are you most looking forward to?

Jesolo is next – soaking up some sun, eating lots of pasta, and just putting my phone away more often. I’m looking forward to salt water on my skin and an espresso after dinner.

10. Question

Beach or city? And what should never be missing from your suitcase?

When it comes to unwinding: definitely the beach. I love that feeling when the sand is hot, the ocean is lapping, and you’re simply untouched. I also like combinations like beach and old town, but relaxation = sea. And in your suitcase? My book, sunscreen with a glow effect, and a flowy dress for spontaneous dinner plans.

11. Question

Is there a place you would always return to?

Vienna. I know, it sounds cheesy, but I keep rediscovering my city. And honestly? There’s no better Kaiserschmarrn.

12. Question

What was the craziest experience you had while traveling?

So, nothing completely absurd—but I’m definitely someone who’s constantly having things happen to me. From spilled drinks to missed buses to mild sunburns in the stupidest places. I’m a bit clumsy, but somehow it always ends up being a good story to tell—and we usually end up laughing along the way.

13. Question

If you could go out to dinner anywhere tonight – where would it be?

Ebi in the SCS. I know, not fancy, but so good. I’d just eat my way through the menu.

14. Question

Your favorite summer drink (other than Aperol, of course)?

A fresh basil smash or a well-made Bellini. But honestly, sometimes a cold martini bianco with ice cubes will do. But when it´s party time I love Pornstar Martinis.

15. Question

What restaurant has really surprised you recently?

NENI on the water. I thought it was just an Instagram spot, but the food? Wow. And the atmosphere right on the Danube Canal is simply magical.

16. Question

Is there a daily ritual that is really important to you?

My evening skincare routine. Not just for my skin—but also for my mind. Unwind, remove makeup, and moisturize. After that, the day is officially over.

17. Question

Why did you found vanivanity – and what is behind the name?

I wanted to create a place that inspires without preaching. Beautiful, but not superficial. One that belongs to me—yet is open to others. The name is a play on my nickname „Vani“ and the desire to celebrate a bit of „vanity“—without shame, with style.

18. Question

How do you plan your blog posts – spontaneously or with an editorial plan?

Both. I love structure, but I also love spontaneous ideas. Sometimes a post comes quite suddenly – after a restaurant visit, a discussion with friends, or a weekend full of emotions.

19. Question

What was the most emotional blog post for you so far?

Definitely the one about my dream wedding. Putting all my emotions into words again—from the planning to the big day—was truly moving. It wasn’t just a retrospective, but a true passion project. I had goosebumps the whole time I was writing it… and a few tears in my eyes by the last paragraph.

20. Question

Where do you want vanivanity to go in the future?

I hope that vanivanity continues to grow—to remain honest, inspiring, and approachable. As a small, personal magazine or brand. Perhaps with one or two small collaborations. But definitely with many more stories waiting to be told.

If you’ve made it this far: Thank you. Really. For reading, being there, supporting me. Maybe there was an answer that surprised you – or made you think. Or maybe you just briefly felt like you were sitting on the couch with me while reading. That would be the best compliment.
