„The secret of great style is to feel good in what you wear.“- Inès de la Fressange, Outfits

When I go on a little wellness trip with my mom, it’s not only pure quality time for me, but also a little mini break for my wardrobe. New environment, new mood, different vibes – and that’s exactly how the looks are created. Nothing over-staged, just outfits that I feel comfortable in, but that still exude a bit of an “I’m on vacation” feeling. And last weekend at the Hotel Zeitwert in Styria was the perfect setting for this.
So, here we go – my outfits from the mommy-daughter getaway, from the dinner date to the hike. Maybe there will be some inspiration for your next short trip outfits?
Friday evening
– dinner & sunset in baby blue
After arriving and taking a short walk through the quiet surroundings of the hotel, it was clear: I wanted to feel light tonight – in the truest sense of the word. My outfit for the first dinner with mom was a short, airy dress in a delicate baby blue, which almost looked a bit like a sky on fabric in the golden evening light.
The cut? Loosely falling, but with an accentuated waist – just the right balance between feminine and relaxed. Add flat sandals in beige, a small crossbody bag in a raffia look and a touch of glow on the cheeks. No heavy makeup, no statement pieces. Just me, the dress – and the sunset over the pool.
Fun fact: I managed to wear my hair down exactly once before the Styrian evening air decided to use it to create a wild natural work of art. So: always have a rubber band to hand. 😉
Saturday
– Sporty vibes for the castle tour
The next morning – after an absolutely legendary breakfast (the fruit salad? a poem!) – we set off for a hike around Hollenegg Castle. Not a big mountain hike, but at least enough to avoid flip-flops. And that’s exactly why my favorite “casual meets functionality” outfit was allowed to go:
I chose black short cycling shorts (super comfortable, don’t slip, fits like a glove) and an oversized cropped T-shirt in white. Minimalist, but exactly my vibe. Plus sturdy shoes – not fashion sneakers, but actual shoes that don’t lose your nerve even on uneven paths.
What do I love about outfits like this? They can be easily upgraded. A stylish sun hat or an edgy backpack and bang, you are no longer just “practically dressed” but “casual cool”. And yes, I even posted a bit. Mom was my photographer – with a surprisingly good eye for perspective. I am proud.
Afternoon at the pool
– sun, silence, chocolate (aka my bikini)
After the hike we went back to the hotel – and straight to the pool. With almost 30 degrees, pure sunshine and this wonderfully clear water, anything else would have been a crime. And this is where my next look came into play: a simple brown bikini that was a bit reminiscent of melted dark chocolate (and I just love that comparison).
No over-the-top design, no crazy cut-outs – just a well-cut, high-quality two-piece that’s perfect for both sunbathing and swimming. Brown tones simply look wow on tanned skin, and I felt completely comfortable.
Add a loose shirt as a cover-up, large black sunglasses and an ice-cold Aperol in your hand – and you had the perfect pool outfit. Oh yes, and a good dose of SPF. Always. Everywhere.
Saturday evening
– A Midsummer Night’s Dream in cream white
For the last evening I had a very specific outfit in mind before I left. There are clothes that you feel as soon as you look at them – and that’s exactly how it was with my long bandeau knit dress in cream white.
It was form fitting but not too tight. Elegant, but still relaxed thanks to the knitted fabric. And in combination with some gold jewelry, open hair and a pair of flat sandals, it became this slightly Mediterranean look that I usually only know from Pinterest or Santorini.
We spent the evening outside, listening to the crickets chirping a bit and laughing about old family stories. And me? I just felt good all around. Not “overdressed”, but just right. For me. For now.
my summary
Less “What do I wear?” – more “What do I want to do?”
I love how clothes can feel when you don’t let them stress you out. Every outfit that weekend was somehow a part of me. Sometimes playful, sometimes sporty, sometimes elegant. And maybe that’s the real „vanity vibe“: clothes that feel like a good memory.
So if you’re planning a little break with your mom (or yourself) soon – take a few favorite items with you, but also leave yourself room for spontaneity. Sometimes the most comfortable shirt or simple bikini is exactly the piece that makes you shine the most.
Until the next getaway –
xoxo,
Vanessa
