Paremi Boulangerie – a hidden french brunch in Vienna

„Life is too short to drink bad champagne.“; Paremi Vienna

There are spots in Vienna you visit on a whim. And then there are places like Paremi Vienna.

Places that stay on your personal list—for months, maybe even longer. Places where you constantly see photos on Instagram, think to yourself, „I really need to go there,“ yet never quite manage it. That’s exactly how it was for me with Paremi Vienna. Funnily enough, I had actually written a blog post about the place quite a while ago—though not for breakfast back then. This time, it was finally going to be my first brunch at Paremi Vienna. And not just any brunch, but my monthly „bestie brunch.“

Anyone who has followed my blog for a while knows that my best friend and I meet up regularly for breakfast. It’s a little ritual I look forward to every time: discovering new spots, chatting for hours, and drinking excellent coffee—it really doesn’t get much better than that. The only problem with Paremi Vienna? They don’t take reservations.

And if you try calling, you’re greeted right at the start of the conversation with a friendly “No reservations.” I honestly had to laugh. At least it saves you from long discussions. So, the only option left was the old-fashioned way: queuing up and hoping for the best. Since I really wanted to sit outside—and temperatures in Vienna are currently off the charts—I arrived well ahead of time. Nervous? Maybe a little. After all, anyone who has ever tried to snag a table at Paremi Vienna on a sunny weekend knows exactly what I’m talking about.

A table

under a fig tree

In hindsight, arriving early was probably the best decision of the day.

By the time I got there, Paremi Vienna was already packed. Every table was taken, and people were standing around, coffee in hand, patiently waiting for a spot to open up. Luckily, I arrived during that perfect, magical window of time. The first wave of breakfast diners was just leaving, while the second wave hadn’t quite arrived yet. After what felt like ten minutes of strategic observation—and a dash of determination—I actually managed to snag a table. For us. Outside. In the shade. More or less.

You see, there was a large fig tree right above our table. I was practically sitting amidst the branches and leaves. Under normal circumstances, that might have been a nuisance. But on that day, it felt more like a little Mediterranean garden in the heart of Vienna. And that is precisely what makes Paremi Vienna so charming. You sit there and, for a moment, completely forget that a city of a million people exists all around you.

I now fully understand why Paremi Vienna has been so popular for months.

Of course, the design plays a role. Of course, everything looks beautiful. Of course, every table looks fantastic in photos. But these days, that alone isn’t enough. In my opinion, what makes Paremi Vienna truly special is the atmosphere. No one seems stressed. No one is in a rush. People sit there with friends, read books, drink coffee, or simply enjoy the moment. Especially in a city like Vienna, where things can sometimes feel a bit fast-paced, this feels incredibly pleasant. Paremi Vienna manages to be modern, relaxed, and stylish all at once.

And that is exactly why it works.

The menu

surprised me/us

To be honest, before I went there, I expected Paremi Vienna to rely mostly on its aesthetics.

Beautiful décor. Beautifully presented plates. Great for taking photos. But perhaps not a huge selection. I was completely wrong. The breakfast menu was far more extensive than I had expected. It really offered everything—from classic breakfast dishes and sweet options to savory meals. There were also several summer specials that were perfect for the weather. And that’s exactly where my personal dilemma began. Because suddenly, I wanted to order about five different things at once. A luxury problem, I know.

One of the summer specials was a coffee with milk and ice. It doesn’t sound spectacular at first. However, it was served in a wine glass. And suddenly, it wasn’t just coffee anymore.

Suddenly, it was a lifestyle. Bougie? Absolutely. Over the top? Maybe a little. Delicious? Definitely.

Especially with the temperature outside topping thirty degrees, this drink was just the thing. Cold. Refreshing. Not too heavy. And, of course, visually stunning. Sometimes, it’s precisely these little details that make a brunch special.

Hydration is important

 – and so is rosé champagne

Of course, it didn’t stop at just coffee.

Anyone who knows me knows that my best friend and I love to toast to things.

And since a brunch feels somehow incomplete without a little glass of something sparkling, we ordered some rosé champagne as well.

More than one glass. Significantly more than one glass. But let’s listen to the science. In temperatures like these, you need to stay hydrated. And nobody explicitly stated that only water was allowed. I think that counts as a perfectly legitimate reason. So, as we sat comfortably under our fig tree, sipping champagne and people-watching, the morning suddenly felt like a mini-vacation.

My Quiche

and my bestie’s summer salad

For my meal, I chose a salmon quiche.

And I have to admit: I hadn’t eaten quiche in what felt like a hundred years. Why was that, exactly? I have no idea. Because after just the first bite, I remembered why I used to love quiche so much. The portion was huge. Truly huge.

Not the kind of breakfast portion that leaves you hungry again after twenty minutes. But a portion that actually fills you up. The quiche was wonderfully moist, balanced in flavor, and had exactly the right consistency. It was served with a fresh salad and dressing. And for me, that salad was the secret star of the plate. I know that sounds strange. But sometimes, the side dish makes all the difference. The dressing was fresh, light, and summery. Together with the quiche, it created a combination that worked perfectly. The proverbial cherry on top.

Or, as we’d say in Austria: exactly what was missing.

My best friend opted for a summer salad. And it was clear the moment it was served that they hadn’t skimped on the ingredients. Colorful. Fresh. Generous. And, above all, packed with goat cheese. I’m not exaggerating when I say you could smell the goat cheese from quite a distance. Not in a bad way. Quite the opposite. Anyone who loves goat cheese would likely have been envious right away.

The salad looked beautiful, too.

In fact, both dishes had a very summery feel. Light. Feminine. Fresh. That is exactly how I picture a perfect brunch on a hot Sunday.

my summary

on Paremi Vienna

For me, this brunch at Paremi Vienna was more than just breakfast.

And that is exactly why I love places like this. Of course, it’s about the food. Of course, it’s about the drinks. But in the end, it’s the moments in between that stay with you. The conversations. The laughter. The people at the next table. The gentle breeze through the fig tree’s leaves. The clinking of glasses. The heat of a Viennese summer day. All these little things together make a brunch special.

Paremi Vienna provides the perfect setting for it.

Would I come back? Without a doubt. Paremi Vienna really impressed me with its breakfast. The atmosphere is relaxed, the setting is beautiful, and the menu is far more extensive than I would have expected. I particularly loved the generous portions, the creative summer specials, and the feeling of being able to escape the daily grind for a few hours.

Yes, you sometimes need a bit of patience to get a table. Yes, reservations would probably be handy. But that actually seems to be part of the concept. Anyone who manages to snag a table at Paremi Vienna feels a bit like a winner. My first brunch at Paremi Vienna certainly won’t be my last.

And if you’re currently looking for a spot for a relaxed brunch in Vienna, you should definitely put Paremi Vienna on your list. Ideally, bring some time. A little patience. And maybe a hand fan, like our bougie neighbors at the next table. Because summer in Vienna is truly relentless right now. But with good food, a glass of rosé champagne, and a lovely spot under a fig tree, even the most intense heatwave becomes surprisingly bearable.
