„Dream on, but don´t imagine they´ll all come true. When will you realize…Vienna waits for you.“ -Billy Joel, See the city
I love Vienna. But it’s even more beautiful to see Vienna through the eyes of others—through the eyes of my friends, each of whom is connected to the city in their own unique way. Recently, I asked them a simple question:
„Which place in Vienna means something to you personally?“
And what came next was more than just a collection of beautiful places. It was a declaration of love—each in its own unique tone.
What I realized: We all see Vienna through our own lens. And yet—or perhaps precisely because of that—we all love it.
Four women, four perspectives, four feelings.

A Touch of Dolce Vita at Al Borgo
„Why do I love Vienna so much? It’s so simple – yet so complex. It’s not without reason that Vienna was named the most livable city in the world. I travel a lot and see many beautiful places – but Vienna has a soul that can’t be replicated…
My favorite place is Al Borgo – an Italian restaurant in the city center that, for me, radiates pure joie de vivre. It’s elegant, yet relaxed. Stylish, but not stuffy. When I sit there, an Aperol Spritz in my hand, listening to the hubbub all around me, Vienna feels a bit like Rome – but with a Viennese charm.
For me, Al Borgo is enjoyment on all levels. Culinary, atmospheric, emotional. It reminds me that life should be celebrated – even on a perfectly ordinary Tuesday.“

Finding Peace on the Marchfeld Canal
„I deliberately didn’t choose a typical place, but one that means a lot to me: the Marchfeld Canal.
It’s incredibly quiet there – no street noise, no tourists, just nature and plenty of space to breathe. I go for walks, jog, or bike rides there. You see pheasants, hares, deer. And sometimes – if you’re there at the right time – the most beautiful sunsets you can imagine…
After stressful days at work, when I’ve been around a lot of people, this is my retreat. I sit alone on a bench or in the meadow and just switch off. The Marchfeld Canal has several entrances, is flat, and easily accessible – no comparison to Kahlenberg or Cobenzl, where you have to climb or get there in a complicated way.
For those truly seeking peace and nature, this is the perfect place. And it is for me anyway.“

The Heart Beats in the Cotté Quarter
I love many places in Vienna – but one that has had a particularly strong impact on me is the Cotté Quarter in the 18th district…
Here you’ll find the Kutschkermarkt, small boutiques, and cafés with soul. Everything is somehow personal, relaxed, and charming. I can spend hours strolling through the streets there, getting a coffee from my favorite bakery, and sitting on a bench in the sun.
The district isn’t loud or flashy, but it has character. It reminds me that the real Vienna doesn’t always happen in the city center – but in the small moments, the quiet alleys, the corners you won’t find in every guidebook.
For me, the Cotté Quarter is like a best friend: unfussy, authentic, and always there when you need her.“

Aperitivo atmosphere at the Campari Bar
„Vienna is beautiful – but sometimes I love it most when it feels a bit like Milan. The Campari Bar is just that kind of place…
I love that Italian attitude to life – the red Negroni in the glass, the elegant interior, the babble of conversations. Everything here feels a bit cinematic. It’s sophisticated without being artificial. And I think Vienna can also be dramatic sometimes.
The bar is located in the heart of the city center, and yet you feel like you’re somewhere else for a moment. I like going there with friends, but sometimes alone – just to enjoy the atmosphere, the sound, the glasses, the light.
Campari isn’t just a drink – it’s a way of life. And that pretty much sums up what I love about Vienna.“
Summary
And that’s exactly what Vienna is.
Four women, four stories – and none are alike. And yet they all tell of the same city.
Vienna isn’t just a backdrop. It’s a companion, a mirror, a place of refuge, a stage. Everyone finds their place here – sometimes glittering with an aperitif, sometimes among market stalls, sometimes overlooking a field bathed in sunset.
What I can say with certainty after these conversations: Vienna is at its most beautiful when you don’t explain it, but experience it. And when you see it through other eyes, it becomes even bigger.
So ask yourself:
Which place in Vienna is yours?
