You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.“- Mae West, Wörthersee
There are places that, as soon as you arrive, feel a bit like „better living.“ Lake Wörthersee is just one of them. Turquoise water, designer sunglasses, lounge music in the background, and a slight tingling in the air – because you know: things are going to be good here.
If you decide to briefly escape everyday life in Vienna and jet south on the last weekend in June, then – with a bit of style awareness and a lot of summer desire – you’ll automatically end up at Lake Wörthersee. And yes, I was there. And yes, I loved it. Almost everything, anyway.
But let’s start from the beginning.
On the way there, I made a small, spontaneous detour (spoiler alert: There’ll be a separate blog post about it soon – and believe me, it’ll be pretty cool). In the evening, we went straight to the water – and into the world of Aperol, sunset glamour, and a DJ soundtrack.

Friday evening:
Dinner with a lake view at the Jilly Beach Restaurant
Our first dinner at the lake was at the Jilly Beach Restaurant – right on the water, right in the heart. I started with an appetizer that immediately put me in the summer mood: shrimp in butter. Warm, spicy, juicy – like a vacation on your tongue. Next, I had Arctic char – slightly crispy on the outside, tender as clouds on the inside.
I simply love fish and seafood in the summer – there’s nothing better for getting your protein without feeling like an overstuffed beach ball. So, if you see me eating somewhere during the warmer months, you can expect to see fish on my plate more often.
Also worth mentioning: There was always a DJ at every beach club and restaurant we visited. The music was never intrusive, but always present – a pleasant beat that makes the sun shine a little brighter.

Style Check:
Everyone looks good – so make an effort
At Lake Wörthersee, you immediately notice that people care about their appearance. Really. I felt like everyone had just stepped out of a holiday brochure—designer glasses, perfect pedicures, even the beach towels looked expensive. You dress up, and you should. Lake Wörthersee isn’t a sweatpants zone.
The staff? Let’s call them relaxed. We always got tables quickly, but the menus took a while to arrive—and my inner „bitch face“ sometimes had to help me out a bit. Even though I’m a really nice person, it seems like you need a certain presence to be taken seriously there. Note for next time.

Saturday:
Beach Club Minium – Soft Sand, Soft Life
Saturday belonged to Beach Club Minium, and I’ll tell you straight: I could have spent the whole summer there. The sand was incredibly soft—almost like flour, only better—the loungers were perfect for sinking into, and the water? I swear, I’ve never swum in a lake that felt so much like the sea. So clean, so clear, so unrealistically beautiful.
We just chilled the whole day. Spritz, snacks, reading, sun—the perfect mix. There was a DJ here again, there were stylish people here again, a relaxed atmosphere, and that feeling of „I’m doing everything right.“
And another plus: It was pleasantly empty. Why? Because Carinthia starts its summer holidays a week later than Vienna. I love little calendar gaps like that.

Saturday evening:
Sol Beach Club – Tuna Rolls & 4 hours of Dolce Vita
In the evening, we went to the Sol Beach Club, where we wanted to eat – but it turned into a whole evening. I had the beef carpaccio for starters, followed by spicy tuna rolls, which were truly incredibly delicious. Fresh, spicy, creamy – exactly my taste.
By the end of the evening, I was honestly full. Really. But in that contented way.
And suddenly, four hours had passed without us even noticing – simply because we were talking, laughing, and celebrating life so much. Time literally slipped through our fingers, and that’s exactly what I love about evenings like these: when good conversation, good food, and a beautiful location merge into a kind of time capsule.
Here, too, a DJ, here, too, a trendy vibe – but never pretentious, never too loud. Simply a feeling of „This is exactly where I belong.“

my summary
Wörthersee, I’ll see you again soon – but then with an upgrade
The whole weekend was like a mini-vacation in my own country – with a seaside feel, stylish locations, and a touch of decadent lifestyle.
But one thing has to be said: Nothing here is cheap. Absolutely nothing. Whether it’s the food, beach access, or a splash in the sun – everything comes at a hefty price. You pay for the location, the atmosphere, and the attitude to life that is clearly served at Lake Wörthersee.
Will I come back? Absolutely. But: Next time, I want to stay at the Schlosshotel Falkensteiner Velden, at the Wörthersee. Yes, it’s expensive. And yes, that’s a new goal on my list. Maybe next year I’ll do it – or maybe I’ll just treat myself sooner. We will see! Because: Sometimes you just have to be worth it.
