June Pilates – the first studio in Vienna?

„Change happens through movement, and movement heals.“- Joseph Pilates; June Pilates

There are places in Vienna that have been with me since the early days of vanivanity—places I discovered back when my blog was just starting out and no one knew where this journey would actually lead. One of those places is definitely June Vienna.

The true OG readers might even remember it; one of my very first posts was about June Vienna. Everything was new back then: the blog was new, my perspective on Vienna was new, and my love for Pilates was still in its infancy.

Today, a few years later, a lot has changed. My blog has grown, my style has evolved, and my expectations regarding studios, interiors, and workout concepts have risen significantly. That makes it all the more wonderful that June Vienna has remained one of those places I love returning to time and again.

That is why it was time for a new post—not just because so much has changed, but also because I have gained a great deal more experience with Pilates and now view the studio through completely different eyes.

June Pilates Vienna

– now has two beautiful locations

Anyone interested in June Vienna should know that there are now two studios in Vienna.

The first studio is located right next to the Parliament and is the original June Vienna studio. The second studio is called „Townhouse“ and is situated somewhat more centrally in the city center. The Townhouse is larger and offers various areas for different workout concepts. It has a modern, spacious, and very urban feel. Nevertheless, I have to admit that my heart still belongs to the original studio.

Perhaps it’s because that’s where it all began. Maybe it’s because I can park right out front so easily. Or perhaps it’s simply because the entire atmosphere suits my personal taste perfectly. Every time I arrive at June Vienna, near the Parliament, I feel like I’m stepping into a little world of design. But who knows—maybe I’ll write a blog post about the June Townhouse in the future? So, stay tuned.

The design of June Vienna

– is a lifestyle in itself

Some people go to a studio for the workout.

Naturally, I go for the workout, too. But I wouldn’t be Vanessa if I didn’t also analyze every single interior design detail. And that is exactly why I love June Vienna. I fell in love with the aesthetic from my very first visit. Everything feels well-thought-out and high-quality, yet pleasantly understated. No cluttered concepts, no artificial world of luxury. Instead, there is that typically modern design—calm, yet full of character.

I even went so far as to buy the June Vienna socks. And I’m definitely not the only one. Anyone who trains there regularly will quickly notice that many guests love the merchandise. You could almost say that the socks have become a bit of an insider thing among the regulars. After all, this smiley is instantly recognizable everywhere.

The start of every Pilates class

feels pleasantly uncomplicated

One thing I particularly appreciate about June Vienna is the hassle-free organization. Booking is handled entirely through Eversports. I find this incredibly convenient, especially for Pilates. You reserve your spot, pay online, and don’t have to worry about anything else.

No paperwork. No sign-up sheets. No complicated processes. You simply arrive at the studio on time, give your first name, and can get started right away. That is exactly how modern workouts should work. At June Vienna, you can enter the studio about 15 minutes before the class starts. That might sound like a minor detail, but it actually makes a difference. You have enough time to settle in, take a breath, and mentally prepare for the session.

As soon as you enter the studio, one particular feature immediately stands out.

Shoes are not allowed anywhere in the studio. Everyone takes off their shoes right at the entrance. I don’t know exactly why, but I love this concept. It instantly creates a sense of calm and cleanliness. You effectively leave your everyday life behind right at the entrance. The lockers are located right next to it. There is also a separate room for changing. Everything feels well-designed and functional, without compromising on aesthetics.

The little details

make the difference

Anyone who has been reading my blog for a while probably knows that I have a soft spot for details.

And it is precisely those details that make June Vienna so special to me. I still remember my very first visit. I was there with a friend at the time. Shortly after, she gave me a keychain that matched the locker keys at June Vienna perfectly. And yes, I still have that keychain to this day.

By now, I actually choose my locker based on my outfit— depending on the color I happen to be wearing. After all, one has to set priorities. Some people choose their locker based on the number. I choose mine based on color aesthetics.

In fact, it was through June Vienna that I discovered my love for Aesop soaps. Every time I washed my hands there after a workout, I found myself thinking: What on earth smells so incredibly good? The scent is so elegant, subtle, and high-quality that I’ve since considered buying the soaps for my own home. It might sound crazy, but it’s precisely these kinds of details t

Reformer Pilates

with a view of Parliament

Let’s move on to the heart of June Vienna: the workout area.

The space is generously sized and feels incredibly open. Large mirrors line one side. On the other, an impressive view of the Parliament building opens up. And it’s not the classic view you see in tourist photos, but rather the back of the building. That’s precisely what makes the perspective so intriguing. During Reformer Pilates, my gaze keeps drifting outside. Especially on sunny days, this creates an atmosphere that feels almost meditative.

Another thing that catches my eye every time is the huge piece of art in the studio. Of course, I’ve seen larger works in museums. But within a training studio, it is probably the largest piece of art I have ever seen. It gives the space character. At the same time, it highlights the distinctive aesthetic of June Vienna. It is precisely elements like these that ensure you don’t feel like you’re in a typical gym.

In addition to the workout area, there is also a beautiful lounge. And honestly?

It looks like it came straight out of an interior design magazine. The colors, materials, and furniture harmonize perfectly. I particularly love the sheer curtain that separates the lounge from the Reformer Pilates area. That detail looks incredibly elegant. It creates a sense of separation without losing the studio’s open feel. For me, it’s exactly these kinds of small design choices that make the difference between a nice studio and a place you want to keep coming back to.

Pilates at JUNE

without the crowds

Another thing I appreciate about June Vienna is the class size.

There are ten Reformer Pilates machines available in the studio. And that is perfectly sufficient. Everyone has plenty of space. No one is practically lying on their neighbor’s mat. No one accidentally bumps into other people. I find having enough space incredibly important, especially for Reformer Pilates. It allows you to concentrate better and perform the exercises with proper form. As a result, the workout feels like a much higher-quality experience.

By now, I’ve probably tried out almost all the trainers at June Vienna.

Naturally, you develop personal favorites over time. That’s completely normal. Even so, I’m deliberately not going to mention any names. Because I believe everyone is looking for something different. Some people like particularly dynamic sessions. Others prefer calmer classes. Then there are those who want precise technical corrections. That’s exactly why everyone should see for themselves. What I can say, however, is this: The quality at June Vienna is consistently high. And that’s exactly why I keep coming back.

The Instagram girls

and I apparently live in different universes

After every session at June Vienna, I ask myself the same question. How do the girls on Instagram manage to stroll through Vienna after Pilates, sipping a matcha latte and looking as if they were being photographed for a magazine?

I really don’t get it. After my Reformer Pilates workout, I look like I’ve just completed a triathlon. My hair has a mind of its own. My face is bright red. And my whole body makes it very clear that I’ve put in the work. But perhaps that’s exactly where the appeal lies. Because you can feel right away that the workout has made a difference.

Another phenomenon I regularly experience at June Vienna is muscle soreness.

And not just any muscle soreness. But soreness in parts of the body I didn’t even know existed. I’ve been working out for years. Yet Pilates still manages to surprise me time and again. Reformer Pilates, in particular, activates muscles in a completely different way than traditional strength training. And that is exactly what makes the workout so exciting for me. No session feels the same. No week is alike.

my summary

on June Vienna

If someone asks me for a Pilates studio recommendation in Vienna these days, June Vienna is definitely among my top picks. Not just because of the workout. Not just because of the beautiful interior. But because of the entire concept. From the hassle-free booking and the warm welcome to the exceptional design, the whole package is simply spot-on. For me, June Vienna is one of those places that show how movement can be more than just exercise.

It’s about atmosphere. It’s about aesthetics. It’s about taking an hour for yourself.

And perhaps that is precisely why I keep coming back to June Vienna, just as I have since the very early days of my blog. Some places lose their magic over time. June Vienna certainly isn’t one of them. I still look forward to every single Pilates class, every Reformer Pilates session, and that special feeling that stays with me whenever I walk through the doors at June Vienna.
